Pressure was certainly on when Elsa Holmberg from Brass Monkey in Nottingham stepped into the scene.
With a Nordic distance and a calm expression in her face – nobody knew what to expect.
Elsa stepped into her role as soon as she got behind the bar. With experienced hands she went through the bottles and the garnishes just to very cooly and collectively look up at the judges and gaining the nod of let’s go. She wasted no time and she was off to a flying start.
35ml Rhuby Liqueur
20ml Hibiscus Infused Pisco
20ml Lemon Juice
30 ml Pink Muscat Wine
6 drops Black pepper Bitters and Rose
Shake all ingredients and strain into wine goblet. Add cubed ice as base and fill with crushed ice, garnish with preserved hibiscus flowers, min sprig and cherry.
The refreshing sparkler had a serious base and flavor, while yet maintaining a lightness of the product.
Her classic Manhattan she switched the Vermouth to Rhuby and ended the contest by presenting her personal concoction – a ‘Chai Bride’ containing Gin, Aquavit to her Nordic roots and Chartreuse amongst others. She poured everything into a beautiful tea cup and served.
Needless to say Elsa was a classic with massive historical knowledge of the cocktail scene and the product heritage of all ingredients she used.
