Isabella Newman – Circo Lounge and Bar – Autumnus
To finish the game we had the largest of life characters in Bella or indeed Isabella Newman. Dressed the part she arrives in shocking pink tie and with a hair needing no introductions.
Her cocktail Autumnus:
37.5 ml Rhuby
5ml Fernet Branca
5 ml Cherry Marnier
15 ml dark agave nectar
25 ml Lemon Juice
2 drops of Fee brothers Rhubarb Bitters
Pour into pre-chilled martini cup and garnish with 2 dried Lavender sprigs.
Bella was inspired by the organic and natural heritage of Rhuby and wanted to create something fresh, vegetable like and without anything artificial.
The classic was a Negroni where she made a swop with the Campari to Rhuby. She placed the twist and the surprise element into the serve which was on the rocks into a glass. The result was sweeter and ‘flirtier’ where the ice allowed the drink to be sipped with a forever changing personality and taste.
Her staple cocktail of the evening was created in a hand-painted (by Bella) tea pot and served in a large jug like glass. The name was a Bella Rouge containing amongst other things Gin, Amaretto and vanilla vodka.
Her happy and larger than life approach was a feast for the eye and ear and with numerous jokes and a dynamic character she could truly ‘hold court’ for the judges.
