Meet The Girls
Next up competing on the Callooh Callay bar was Rose Brookman, representing Bristol from Amoeba Lounge.
Reliving childhood memories and her current family bonds, Rose showed great bar technique and confidence in her presentation to produce ‘Breakfast With Mum’. A lovely balanced drink with a great serve. The RHUBY and home-made rhubarb and ginger jam complemented and enhanced each other, leaving a nice ginger finish from the Briottet Gingembre.
Rose’s humble personality continued to warm the judges as her bar skill and knowledge were evident in her twist on The Last Word, called The Last Rhuby. Replacing Chartreuse with RHUBY and reducing the Maraschino to allow the RHUBY to shine through, Rose added a green Chartreuse rinse to keep The Last Word identity in her twist. This led way to a moorish, balanced and very tasty twist, one that I am sure many of the crowd will reproduce again.
For her final cocktail, the standard of presentation and delivery was kept high. With cane rum, rose syrup, grapefruit and peppercorn bitters and pink grapefruit juice, The Briar Rose was a fantastic expression of Rose’s personality. Fresh and nicely balanced, and served with grapefruit sorbet and sugar roses and sparkles.
With tough competition Rose took second place in Pink Your Drink UK 2014.
